I was recently delighted to see a bouquet of sweet pea flowers at our local shop.
Sweet peas were a common garden flower in my childhood, and I adored both their delicious scent and lovely colours.
It is native to the Mediterranean including southern Italy, the Aegean Island region, Sicily, and Cyprus, and burst into mainstream cultivation in the 17th century.
Now they bloom all over the world.
While the sweet pea symbolizes the wish for a good journey or bon voyage, it is mostly associated with blissful pleasure because of its purported aphrodisiac effect.
