Description
The inspiration for this abstract landscape painting was a previous piece I did of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia, however I completely abstracted the image.
Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.
The artist Alice Neel said there is no such thing as abstract art, as the eye cannot paint what it has not seen.
With abstract painting, there can be the initial inspiration, and then I play around with line, shapes and colour until something emerges which I am happy with.
